Why Belgium?

Belgium’s beer heritage stretches back nearly a thousand years. Monks in Trappist monasteries began brewing as early as the Middle Ages - not just for sustenance, but as a reflection of devotion and craftsmanship. Over time, each region of Belgium developed its own unique brewing traditions: from the fruity depth of Dubbels, the golden brilliance of Tripels, to the spontaneous fermentation of Lambics and Gueuze.

This deep respect for quality, flavour, and experimentation has made Belgium the benchmark for brewing excellence -where recipes are passed down through generations, and every pour tells a story.

At Thread, we bring that legacy to life in the heart of Stockport. As Stockport’s only Belgian bar, we celebrate centuries of brewing artistry with every glass poured. Our aim is simple: to capture the authenticity, warmth, and curiosity that define Belgian beer culture — and share it with our community here in Stockport.
